Got to see Jason Woz last night…my heart is so happy!

We went to dinner at Frannys with Matt and Eric.

Erie....

This past weekend I went to visit my dad in Erie Pennsylvania. He has been living there for about a year and a half and I was finally able to get out and see where he is out there. It was a nice weekend.
The weekend was planned mainly to spend sometime with dear old dad so I was happy to go along with whatever plans had already been decided on. However, I was had not expected to be signed up for The Erie Pa Bar Stool Open. Um, sure. It was for a great cause but a day spent in 17 different bars playing putt-putt with your dad and 500 college student is a different story.

The break down of the Bar Stool Open is this: each bar signs up to be apart of it and all the registration and bar fees goes to charity for cerebral palsy. You go to each place and they have made a clever set up putt-putt hole for the teams of 4 to “golf” on and have their scores added to a scorecard then on to the next bar and next hole set up…. So in essence a great cause but in reality the chance for massive amount of college students coming from near by Penn State and Gannon colleges and an excuse for them to start drinking at 10 am. I think we made it to the third “putting green”.

last week catch up

Its gonna be a quick one so i can get up to speed. On Friday Feb 13 was my good friend Alex's birthday. so we all agreed to go see the new re make of the movie Friday the 13 on it's opening night...Friday the 13th. Needless to say i spent most of the movie with my hands over my eyes waiting until it was safe to look again. I would not have done this for anyone other than Alex. I suppose the only redeeming factor the the movie was the copious amount of full frontal female nudity... yea that was probably just about the only thing. Headed to Schol bar afterward and just hung out for a b day evening.

Saturday morning Eric gave me a very pretty valentines day cookie. We didn't plan to get anything for each other so this was very sweet. I shared it with him on Sunday after our valentines day dinner at home (I know Sunday was the day after but you have to be flexible when your boyfriend is bound to restaurant hours)

Monday (Presidents day): Caitlin, Jeff, Eric, Julia, Steve S., and myself all headed to china town for some delicious dim sum. nothing like starting the week off with an insane amount of friend delicious Chinese foods. Unfortunately i can't have any of their famous soup dumplings...none of them are made without pork.

And Monday eve came to a nice close with a impromptu dinner at absolutely hands down the best pizza place in Brooklyn (sorry Grimaldi's... but its true). We called Lucali for some take out and were so bummed when the response on the other end let us know they had a hold on any take out orders. So i suggested since it was just the two of us we would be able to get a seat pretty quickly. Usually the wait for Lucali is like hours long (even for take out). And luck was on our side. Even though i got a pretty bad burn from bumping my arm on the water pipe i was sitting next to it was well worth the date at Lucali.

l bougt myself something for Valentines day

Dinner with a friend

Wednesday night was nice and relaxing, after walking Murphy I headed up to Hilde’s in Green point and we had a really nice one on one dinner. Just nice to have someone to share the time with. She prepared a very tasty dinner of braised fennel, potatoes, and brussel sprouts with marinated tofu and mushrooms. It was nice to have something very nutritional and a good break from my two sick addictive vices; rice and pasta. I know everything in moderation…but with those two comfort foods I just can’t properly restrict myself. Then I popped by south slope to pick up some Cava I had planned on having for our post Valentines Day dinner with Eric and had left at Sara's the night before. Then home just in time to lose a little more intelligence by subjecting myself to the real world Brooklyn. Really my only real motivation to watch it is to see where they go and if they’ll ever actually spend time in Red Hook. If anything I suppose it a good release to watch trashy TV and crawl in to bed.

Back in the Saddle_2009 restart

You know what, I have been itching to jump back on the horse and make some new blogs. Why not! Although I am sure most that may have checked this are long gone by now especially with the poor content that has been filtered into this. So here we’ll start by doing a daily update and just and over all.

This week’s been a bit better than most. Its warming up and my workload is deal-able. Its been a bit overwhelming after the cut backs and having to take on quiet a few more responsibilities. Just getting through it and enjoying the spring like weather that we’ve been having. It keeps getting me more and more excited for the final count down to Eric and I going to Belize in April (yup its official)! Here is a teaser for where we’ll be staying. I really can’t wait.I’ve read through about 10 travel books wanting to get the best out of the week we’ll be there.

But we’ll start out the resurgence of the blog in 2009 slowly, we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves and then flustered and then loose it all over again. I think I tend to do that, either than or just ramble through so much information that none of it makes sense or really had any good content.

Last weekend was a good escape from an insane workweek (you know it is what it is, and a always best not to discuss work on a public forum). Friday wrapped up just in time for me to submit myself to probably the worst type of torture for about 2 hours of please give me my money I can’t believe I paid to watch that:

Saturday I kept myself busy running errands while Eric was working and in the evening had a wonderful invitation to my good friend Hilde’s first supper club. It was a small showing but you know it was nice to have an opportunity to meet new people and just relax over a home-prepared meal. Less having to count your pennies and ration out what you will eat and drink and much more enjoying the company of others. She prepared a main of braised beef shank and oxtail with white beans and pomegranates (but was kind enough to include my fish only diet and prepared some salmon for me). It was just one of those awesome evening when you have good food and great company, we both agreed that we are perpetually wanting to be a hostess in order to have those experiences. I’ve been to a few supper clubs in my time, but although this one is in its early stages I appreciated the lack of official-ness to it. Just gave it a nice personal feeling to it. I’m joining her for dinner again tonight. Its nice to have a someone to spend evenings with when Eric is working nights Tuesday – Saturday and her boyfriend is in Panama on some work projects. Plus she is an incredible cook I am constantly floored with her ability and asking her for pointers for my slow moving self-education on the kitchen.

Sunday consisted of doing anything humanly possible to spend time outside. We took Murphy to the dog park and he was wonderful and playful and had a great time, luckily the lady who owned the dog he decided to keep humping understood it and let me know it was more to determine dominance and anything to be embarrassed about. We walked to lunch and just strolled down smith street. Over all it was an amazing day brought on by some much needed reminders that yes spring will actually happen again sometime.

Monday pretty quiet, just some spinning class and take out Indian with Eric after work. Nothing really to write home about.

And yesterday I found myself at dinner with Cate and Becky at Bar Tano on 3 ave in Brooklyn (south Slope/Gawanus/ Carroll gardens…whatever neighborhood you would like to reference). It was actually a great quiet little tucked away place. Quintessential Brooklyn bistro, under the F train on a quiet street. I think its definitely a place I would like to go back to . I had a lighter fare due to the even lighter mass of my wallet and bank account. But the salad was very good and filling. The only real complaint was the Bruchettes was over done, too much paste or tamponade or filling depending on what you ordered. But I mean hey come on, if you biggest complaint is that there was too much of something it cant be all that bad. Afterward, we stopped by to wish well to Sara while she packed to spend the next week in Africa.

There we go caught up to continue on a good resolution to keep this up (especially after I saw it was linked to on Kristen’s blog)
